VST-ECS Phils. Inc. recently gathered top key leaders and senior officers in the IT industry to help various organizations maximize modern technologies through sharing industry trends, insights, and best existing practices in their respective fields. With this year’s theme “The Data-Driven Enterprise: Harnessing The Power of Data”, the event discussed transformative technologies and how data-driven enterprises operate and use the collected data. Here are the major takeaways that enterprises should adopt while going digital.
The power of the Hybrid Cloud
Since the discovery of cloud computing, most local businesses are starting to invest in its power. For people not directly associated with information technology, the buzzword phrase allows access and management of digitally stored data in one huge place which is the cloud. This enables employees to work remotely as long as they have stable connectivity. There are three main categories for the cloud: hybrid, native public, and SaaS (software as a service). Hybrid cloud is a combination of public and private cloud which allows sharing of data and applications between them. This preserves the privacy of confidential data from third-party data centers through a company firewall while utilizing the advantages of the public cloud for basic and non-sensitive computing tasks. According to a report presented by Dell Technologies chief technology officer presales APJ Lee Siong Fey, enterprises that use multi-cloud solutions deploy 46 times more frequently and recover 96 times faster and have lower failure rates compared to those which use the public and SaaS cloud platforms. It shows that the hybrid cloud is more agile and flexible, decreasing downtime and system maintenance up to 50 percent.
