Thousands of motoring fans once again flocked to the World Trade Center in Pasay last April for the country’s longest-running and largest car show. With the theme “Experience fun and function,” the 15th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) allowed expo visitors to immerse in fun activities and discover the function of the latest innovations in the automotive industry.
As expected, the annual automotive summer spectacle saw the launch of new cars from participating brands. Aside from the auto exhibits, however, there were also car club displays, a miniature diecast car collection showcase, and a monster truck display. Guinness World Record holder and MIAS regular Russ Swift was also present.
Subaru
The Subaru XV not sporty enough for you? Motor Image Pilipinas took the wraps off a more athletic XV at the 2019 MIAS: the Subaru XV GT Edition.
The GT edition, designed exclusively for the Asian market, is a collaboration between Subaru, engineering company Giken, and Masahiko ‘Jack’ Kobayashi, Subaru’s former chief designer.
The exterior add-ons include a new front bumper lip extension, deeper side skirts, a longer roof spoiler, an extension on the rear bumper, and bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels. It also gets leather seats with orange stitching and a dual side view monitor system (there are cameras on the side mirrors) for easier parking.
Hyundai
Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) rocked the MIAS with the introduction of two offerings. The Palisade, Hyundai’s flagship SUV, embodies the company’s new design direction called the Sensuous Sportiness concept, which basically combines proportion, architecture, styling, and technology into one beautiful design.
