[Camping] Kamp-Mal Birthday Celebration.
When Kamp-Mal started in May 2016, we never in our wildest dreams thought that our Facebook page would attract this kind of passionate following.
During the past year, we have seen the numbers grow (sometimes at a staggering 1000 new members per day) to over 94 000 members at the time of writing. This proved that we were right when we said that camping was an “addiction”, and that spending enough time on the Kamp-Mal Facebook page would soon have you camping more, or would turn you into a camper.
We hear stories about people who had given up camping, but (thanks to KampMal) again bought a caravan, a trailer or a tent, and are back camping. We now have Kamp-Mal members far and wide: in Australia, Holland, Canada, Namibia and quite a few more countries.
To celebrate our first birthday, we decided to organise a lekker camping and caravanning weekend. When we announced this Kamp-Mal weekend, it took only one day to have the main camp at Mbizi Game Lodge booked out. Then the chalets and tent houses followed.
Herman van Tonder, the owner of Mbizi, then had to open another 40 stands in the Wilds camp, but these were also booked out soon after that. We had people on a waiting list until the very last day. The ladies in the office at Mbizi were absolutely fantastic, and I believe were kept quite busy. Herman also gave us great pricing, at R100 per night, for which we were very grateful.
