It has taken over a decade of restoration for Six Senses Fort Barwara to open, and it couldn’t have been better timing. After well over a year of pandemic-related restrictions, a deep-dive into one of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas’ multi-award winning, holistic wellness programmes might be the TLC booster we need.
Plus, it’s a comfort that’s close to home in many ways. Every Six Senses outpost is rooted in its location and Six Senses Fort Barwara, a three-hour drive from Jaipur airport, brings Rajasthani inspiration to everything from décor to dinner. Expect Shekhawati art on the walls, dining in the former observation tower, and wellness therapies with a signature range of blended indigenous essential oils, muds and clays.
The 14th-century Fort Barwara has been transformed into a 48-suite resort managed by Six Senses, and restored in tandem with the Espire Group and Prithviraj Singh, grandson of Raja Man Singh of Barwara. The architectural design was overseen by Ahmedabad-based firm Panika (whose heritage projects include The Oberoi Udaivilas).
