Monalisa explains how you can go off the grid and explore Goa from a different perspective
GOA has been trending on everyone's bucket list for decades now. Every day one person is fulfilling his/her dream by landing in Goa and taking a dip. Over the years, varied tastes and the need to cater to everyone has led to the commercialization of the once pristine beaches and garbage free villages.
Goa (for me) is beyond this. It is a better way of life and we all need to explore the Goa that has been hiding in plain sight. Here are a few ways to help you see Goa much beyond the beaches, parties and fish curry rice.
CHOOSE HOMESTAY/HOSTELS- Homestays/ Hostels are ideal because apart from giving you a taste of the local life, in terms of food or spots, they also give you an edge over meeting like-minded people and also the opportunity to explore further and better. Homestays give you an idea of the architecture and how the lifestyle was back in the days. They allow you to see closely that simple life is a good life. Travellers understand this like no other and enhance their next stop with a perfectly set home stay. Use websites like Airbnb.com who give you some incredible choices.
The few favourites are Birdsong in Moira, Villa Maia in Uccassaim, Jungle by the Hostel Crowd and Pappi Chulo in Vagator, Wanderer's Hostel in Morjim.
