IT’S A WELL-KNOWN CLICHE that cruising adds unwanted pounds onto what might be considered an acceptable physique. However, I do my best to buck the siren song of unlimited food and do everything I can to stay fit, making a visit to the fitness center my go-to cruise activity. A sabbatical from ship buffets in a normal world should translate to maintaining a respectable mirror image, but then life today is anything but normal.
Previous to our tempered lives of cruise withdrawal and pandemic lockdown, personal workouts carried the burden of finding the time to travel to a gym, spending our precious time (and money) in a bustling arena of perspiring mankind, and briefly toweling off before heading back home. Today, time is no longer a commodity we lack, but with gyms closed or limited, how to use it is still the conundrum we face.
I’ve marveled at the technology of the high-end workout equipment on the high seas and after a great deal of research I’ve gone all in on putting together a home fitness center. No, not a room full of weights and assorted equipment all surrounded by mirrors, but Technogym’s amazing Excite Live Synchro elliptical.
