It all started with the wrong booking. The plan was for my husband and I to visit St Helena. Partly, the trip was meant to be an extremely belated honeymoon. But foremost, we had a twofold mission: to try to find the graves of seven Zulu poll tax prisoners who died on the island between 1907 and 1910, and to find out about the life of King Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo during his imprisonment on St Helena between 1890 and 1897. He had children born on the island, some who died there, and we wanted to see their graves, too.
