The highlights: Lord Howe Island is a small 11km-long sliver of paradise in the Tasman Sea, with white sandy beaches, the southernmost coral reef in the world and diverse wildlife, including species found nowhere else on the planet. Though a part of Australia, Lord Howe is geographically part of the newly discovered underwater continent of Zealandia – it’s one of the few parts of it to poke above the surface.
