Rising Above Controversies - Sana Khan

“Be an encouragment; the world has plenty of critics already,” is what is going to strike your mind once you listen to the story of an actor who was neither launched by any of the Khans, nor came from an artistic background, where she is today is because of her strengths and positive beliefs. The actress has had a relatively successful career in the South, but her journey in Bollywood has been quite arduous. Now, with films like ‘Wajah Tum Ho’ and ‘Tom Dick Harry 2’, her career in B-Town seems to be a positive turning point. Wedding Affair experienced a candid conversation with this generation’s bold and beautiful, Sana Khan.

The Mumbai based actress gets extempores as we ask her about her journey as a Model, a Television Actor and finally making her way to the Silver Screen. She recalls, “I was 18 when I stepped into the industry, but that was something that I wasn’t sure about. I wanted to get into aviation and till the time I was free, I thought of giving modelling a shot. I only started it as a part time job which I used to do post college, when I had also started doing events. I had just completed my HSC (High School Certificate) and I gave some auditions. It was a tough journey to get the portfolio done as it required shelling out so much money. I didn’t know whether it was my cup of tea or not and worth spending on. After numerous back to back shoots, I finally cracked a decent portfolio and started shooting for ads.”

There’s no Stardom without Struggle

The actor further confabs, “Last 10-12 years have been great and of course, there was a lot of struggle. I get up every day and I have to call people myself to get work. I always think there is nothing to be ashamed of, asking for work is not begging for money; it’s just that, people are not going to know about your capabilities until you are willing to show it to them. I think this helps build a lot of relationships. No no matter what I said or did, people would always print it in a way that sounds weird. After being surrounded with so many controversies throughout the year, it’s very easy for a journalist to make my interview sound senseless. In totality, it has been a crazy journey, working with Tollywood, Bollywood and AD films.”
