You don’t need to step out of your home if it looks and feels like a chic French apartment, a fun Latin American chalet, an oriental bungalow or a Moroccan abode. Take a leaf out of BHG’s ideas and transform your home.
LATIN EXUBERANCE
Think beachy days, vibrant colours and an ongoing celebration of life. The Latin American décor style echoes this feeling. Here’s how to incorporate it in your own home.
Showpiece walls
Like their songs and dance styles, the walls in Latin American homes are exuberant and eye-catching. Adorning one of the walls in a simple living room with a large and colourful artwork can easily transform it and fill it with life. It’s amazing what such a piece, painting or even brightly designed pieces can do! A lot of Latin American murals are made of bite-sized pieces of glass, seashells and pebbles. You can commission one or get your children to help you create an abstract work of art. These can be made for smaller spaces like the bathroom or kitchen to jazz them up instantly.
Colour burst
The palette of shades in this style leans heavily towards red and yellow. However, earthy tones also make an appearance to balance the vivid shades. In case you don’t want to invest in oversized artworks, turn your attention towards the floor or the ceiling instead. Invest in intricately coloured floor tiles that complement your room décor and use them to cover half of the walls or even the whole ceiling to create a dramatic statement.
Curved pleasures
Arches are one of the mainstays of the Latin American décor style and have become popular in India as well. So, if your house is still in its building stage, we recommend that you opt for hand-carved arches. Adorn these with symbols of this particular culture, like Sombrero hats or Maraca instruments, or give these a contemporary twist by painting them in a contrast colour to render an impact.
