A beauty tool that helps you blend your foundation perfectly, the sponge ensures even coverage and is pretty easy to use, once you’ve learnt a few basic tricks.

“I like to use painting walls as a metaphor to explain the use of a blending sponge,” says makeup artiste, Sakshi Malik, owner of Delhi’s Sakshi Malik Studio. “Just as we always use a roller on the walls after using a paint brush to even out the surface, remove brush strokes, and get rid of excess paint, we use the blender to do the same thing with foundation. It makes the base flawless.”

The makeup sponge has been around for a long time. The most common ones were the stiff, triangle-shaped ones that were used to even out pancake foundation. However, they had their own drawbacks.
