Born and raised in Greece, Yianni Tsapatori, found his life’s true calling by going back to his roots and developing his skills of hairdressing. Being an engineering student and a professional athlete, he never would have imagined that his mother’s profession was the ideal fit for him all along. Having worked with celebrities across the globe, this dynamic hairstylist brings more than just his creativity to the table. His originality and people skills make him a sought-after stylist among many Bollywood celebs. Through this interview, he reveals his perception of the industry, the job, and his journey.
What inspired you to become a hairstylist?
My mum ran a salon in Greece ever since she was 17. The salon has been there for over 40 years now. I basically grew up in the salon! I didn’t think of being a hairstylist in the earlier years, but here I am 20 years later, doing what mum did best. I studied in a completely different and unrelated field—engineering. At one point, I also taught aerobics in Norway. But life has its way of taking you where it wants to take you. I know now, that hairstyling is something that I can do for the rest of my life.
How did it all take off?
