Hope Schiller, international trainer for John Paul Mitchell Systems, gives us an insight into her journey in the industry, and what inspires her to do what she does so well.
US-based hairstylist, Hope Schiller, began her career at a very young age. Her dedication and drive for the profession enabled her to receive a license by 17, and she began managing a salon by the early age of 19. Her specialties include hair colour, hairstyling, and haircutting, and her stint with John Paul Mitchell Systems® has led her to become an international trainer with the company. If that’s not all, she also lends her expertise at the William Taber Salon in Fleming Island, Florida, in the capacity of hairstylist. Hope Schiller is an admirable individual with a fun, humble, and loving personality. When she’s not pursuing her love for hairstyling, you’ll find her coaching high school students on like twirling and hip-hop dance. Excerpts from our interaction below:
What inspired you to become a hairstylist?
The fashion industry inspired me to become a hairstylist. I have always wanted to work closely with my favourite fashion designers, be a part of the fashion shows and photoshoots, and be amidst these new trends at the very beginning. I figured that I could enter this field through hairstyling, and this would help me be a part of the world of fashion.
What's the earliest memory you have of when you just began hairstyling?
The earliest memory of hairstyling is one from my childhood. I remember I used to have my mom sit down and then I would brush her hair. It has been a passion ever since.
When you started on your journey what were the hurdles you faced?
