Makeup goals haven’t changed over the generations. We all still want to look naturally and effortlessly fabulous, don't we? Social media has all the answers, finds Aurelia Fernandes
Say what you want about millennials, one thing is for sure: we’ve changed the beauty scene for the better. Even outside the influence of the highly contoured Kardashian Jenner clan, innovations are happening furiously and every product is held up to much higher standards today. Any new launch has to check the boxes for ease of use, cute design and a certain undefinable something we’ll call hashtag ability. Although there have been a few hits and misses, the innovations we’ve listed below are in a league of their own.
Elixirs
If you’re on Instagram, then it’s likely you’ve heard about beauty elixirs. Often used by makeup mavens as primer or dripped directly into the makeup itself, a few drops of this magic product is enough to give you that dewy glow. Elixirs primarily thin out the texture of your base. The oil allows the makeup to blend better on the skin and ensures that it doesn’t transfer. Elixirs also work as activators, enabling you to get the maximum colour payoff from your eyeshadows and lip colours.
Lip plumpers
The pursuit for the perfect pout has been a bit of an obsession for this generation. Right from lip contouring to over-lining, there has been a host of tried-and-tested methods to get that luscious pout, without going under the knife. Cosmetic lip plumpers are all the rage. There are two types of plumpers available, one is a little device that works as a suction cup, and the other is product-based. The device plumper acts as a vacuum, plumping up your lips. The product essentially stimulates blood flow to your lips, resulting in a lush, full pout. It usually comes in clear gloss or a tinted shade, so you can pair easily with a lip colour for extra oomph!
