Emily Skye: I'll Get You Back In Shade

If there’s anyone who can get you into shape, it’s Emily Skye. The personal trainer, model and fitness influence has amassed an impressive 1.8 million followers on Instagram, where she regularly posts workout videos inspiring pictures, and before and after shots of those following her hugely successful FIT programme.

The results speak for themselves, but Emily admits that the formula for sculpting a great body needn’t be tough. Ì’ You have to aim to be the best you can,’ the Aussie star told us. Ì’ Don’t focus on trying to be like someone else – you can never be them. I did that for many years and know that you won’t succeed.’

Instead, Emily recommends finding a workout plan that you enjoy: Ì’ I’m not into short term fixes. A lot of people put themselves through intense weight loss programmes that aren’t sustainable because they’re too harsh. Make exercise your lifestyle.Don’t eat meals you don’t like. And keep changing your workouts.’

And as for the type of exercise that should be on your agenda, Emily suggests that steady state cardiovascular activity isn’t the best method for fat loss. Ì’ I don’t want to turn people off cardio – it has lots of benefits – but people have this idea that they need to do aerobic activity to lose fat and it’s not the best way,’ she says. Ì’ HIIT [high intensity interval training] circuits and strength training are the most efficient and effective methods because you’ll burn more calories in the 24 hours after exercise.’
