Chris finds a connection with possibly the most accident-prone man in history

Battered And Bruised

In my article last week I wrote about possibly the world’s unluckiest goalkeeper, Chic Brodie.

This week I want to talk about somebody from a very different walk of life who nevertheless had a lot in common with poor old Chic.

OK, I realise that I may be the first person ever to mention Wolves and Brentford number one Chic Brodie and Lord Horatio Nelson in the same sentence, but the two had remarkably similar careers – though one of course involved saving Britain from annihilation… and the other involved pulling a crossbar down on his own head. (Just to be clear, it wasn’t Nelson who broke the goal posts).

Where Nelson and Chic’s paths do cross is in the astounding level of injuries they received. We’ve covered those attained in the field of goalkeeping, but Horatio Nelson fared no better.
