Full of fun and feeling fabulous, celebrities and readers celebrate turning sixty in style

Now We Are 60

Mixed Feelings

"I have mixed feelings on turning 60," says Kathy Betts. "It is the decade of big change when you finish work and at some point retire, so you start assessing whether you've made good enough provisions. But while you might be 60, you don't actually feel any different. I had a lovely birthday party with family and friends, including people we know from places where we've previously lived and those we know from other walks of life. You need to take every opportunity to celebrate life, don't you?"

Embrace Your Life

"I have always embraced the next decade rather than holding onto the past," says Jen Roach. "I look forward to what I can do next, to what will be new and exciting for me. I lost my mum to breast cancer when I was in my early 30s and I think that made me realise that every year you have is a privilege. Even in your 60s you still need to take on challenges and ignore anxieties about failing or not being able to do things. It is not about being perfect - near enough is good enough!"
