Cracks in the already fragile relationship between Prince Harry and his dad Prince Charles look set to widen as not one but two books about the royals threaten to shake the monarchy.
The family has been bracing itself for what Harry will reveal in his tell-all memoir since it was announced that he’s writing a book about his life. Due to be published later this year, the book is said to contain potentially explosive insights into his rocky relationships with family members. And according to Harry’s friends, one of the people likely to be strongly criticised is his stepmother, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
Meanwhile, a biography about Harry’s wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex that is currently being written by investigative journalist turned-author Tom Bower claims Camilla, 74, has no time for her step-daughter-law and has long been suspicious of her intentions.
That book is also expected to be published this year, and the royals and their courtiers are bracing for a barrage of headline-grabbing claims when both hit the shelves.
“There is a lot of concern about what is going to be said in these books,” says a palace insider. “Everyone is feeling extremely nervous.”
The royal family was blindsided when it was announced that Harry, 37, was collaborating with award-winning ghostwriter J.R. Moehringer on a memoir. It’s believed he didn’t tell them about the book – the first they knew was when it was announced by publishers Penguin Random House.
