He’s rich, good-looking and the son of an Italian count. Now Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi has captured the heart of Princess Beatrice and, according to her friends, could be the next person to join the royal family.

Edoardo (34), a divorced dad-of-one, has been dating Beatrice for only two months but things are getting so serious that an engagement could be imminent, say her pals.

“Things are moving very quickly and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they got engaged within a short period of time,” says one. “They could even be tying the knot in 2019 – it has already been discussed by her friends.”

Last week, Beatrice took Edoardo, who has a two-yearold son named Wolfie, to an exclusive party in London thrown by billionaire Lakshmi Mittal and introduced him to fellow guests as her boyfriend.

Although it was rumoured that they met for the first time two months ago, in fact their families know each other and they have moved in the same circles for years. But it wasn’t until they met up through a mutual acquaintance in September that a spark ignited.

They connected instantly and have a “real laugh” together, says the friend. “They’ve been on holiday together, and Beatrice introduced him to Fergie and her dad. Everyone is thrilled that Bea is so happy and in such a good place right now.”
