She’s Australasia’s most- loved women’s wellness whisperer, but Dr. Libby Weaver almost swapped her career as an internationally acclaimed nutritional biochemist to become a journalist. It wasn’t until the 13-times bestselling author realized she only wanted to write about people’s health and nutrition behavior – not news – that shipped to biochemistry.
Twenty-one years on, with a Ph.D. in the subject, the Queensland-based writer, speaker, and nutrition expert still has the gift of the gab when it comes to slipping in a quick question – even when the interview’s about her!
Chatting to the Weekly with the usual warmth and energy fans adore, Libby asks if Kiwi journalists are still working remotely thanks to COVID. “I’m so happy for you, that’s excellent!” she enthuses, genuinely delighted when she hears it’s once again full steam ahead for women’s magazines in New Zealand.
“It has been strange for me having to deliver my presentations online,” she shares. “It’s the first time in eight years I haven’t been able to do my tour of New Zealand and Australia across September and October. I prefer to do it in person, so I can see and hear people’s responses and chat with them.”
