Even fiancée Lauren has no say in their big-day preparations

He once famously announced that he didn't believe in marriage - but Simon Cowell is more intent than ever to exchange vows with his longtime love Lauren Silverman.

The America's Got Talent: Extreme star, 62, shared recently that not only are his plans to tie the knot with US socialite Lauren, 44, in June still on track, but that he's the one doing all the prep for their big day.

"I am planning it all, otherwise I know what will happen: there will be 600 people and it'll get out of control, like my 50th birthday party," the wise-cracking media mogul said recently. “No one knows when it's going to be. That'll be a surprise - even for Lauren!”

Back in 2013, when his relationship with then-married Lauren first hit the headlines, very few of Simon's friends would have picked that it was the beginning of his transformation from confirmed bachelor to happy family man.

The X Factor creator and his fiancée have a controversial love story. The pair first met in 2004 when Simon was holidaying at a resort in Barbados, and struck up a friendship with fellow vacationer Andrew Silverman, a US real estate tycoon, and his wife Lauren.

Insiders say Simon set his sights on Lauren early on, but continued to date other women, including make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy.
