Kitchen
Your kitchen is the hub of your homeand needs to be kept to the highest hygiene standards for your health and that of your family. Doing the washing up every night and wiping down benchtops after each use are essential, but you also need to keep your appliances clean.
FRIDGE
Food fresh
As a rule of thumb, you should check your fridge weekly for any food that is going off, as this is the best way to guard against mould and mildew.
Spills
You should also wipe up spills when they happen. Every three months, give your fridge a deep clean, removing all food and taking the opportunity to check the use-by dates on condiments and seldom-used items.
Spray
Remove all trays and shelves, and give them a clean, along with the interior. Warm, soapy water is all you need, but you can also use a food-safe anti-bacterial spray.
MICROWAVE
Lemon fresh
To clean a microwave, pour 1 cup water into a microwave-safe bowl, squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon, then add lemon halves. Microwave for 3-5 minutes or until water is boiling and steam condenses. Let sit for 5 minutes, take out bowl and turntable, and wipe out interior gunk. The steam and citric acid also kill mould and bacteria.
Bathroom
The place where you get clean can quickly become one of the dirtiest places in your home! But keeping it grime-free doesn’t have to be a full-time job if you put in a bit of work to make maintaining a hygienic space easier.
