She’s 81 and looks incredible, but Jane Fonda admits she’s having ongoing battles with her health, including suffering “lots of cancer”.

Jane got candid in a recent interview with British Vogue as she talked about the disease. A tumour was found in her breast during a routine mammogram in 2010 and she underwent a lumpectomy to remove it. At the time, a PR person said she was “100% cancerfree”, but six years later, she needed a mastectomy. Trouper Jane didn’t let having recently undergone major surgery stop her from attending the 2016 Golden Globes, though, where she was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in Youth.

“I get out of the car and the strange white dress with all the ruffles? That’s because I’d just had a mastectomy and I had to cover my bandages,” she says of the Yves Saint Laurent couture gown she wore to the event.

She has also had various skin cancers removed. “I was a sun worshipper,” Jane says. “When I have a day off, I frequently go to my skin doctor and have things cut off me by a surgeon.”

That has included a growth on her bottom lip. She was upfront about it at a media call to promote her TV show Grace and Frankie last year, saying to an interviewer, “I just had a cancer taken from my lip. I thought it was going to heal before I came here, but it’s fine.”
