As the new batch of bakers begin their journey on The Great Kiwi Bake Off, the Weekly catches up with the first two winners of the show, Trevor Hall and Annabel Coulter, to see what they’ve done since taking out the competition. From judging baking competitions to attending prestigious cooking schools, the talented pair show a Bake Offtrophy can really sweeten the deal.
TREVOR HALL
It’s been almost two years since Trevor Hall won the second season of The Great Kiwi Bake Off and the father-of-three says people still come up to him in the streets asking for his expert baking opinion.
“Sometimes when I’m in a rush doing my groceries, I try and avoid the baking aisle because I get stopped by people and they want to talk about this brand of baking powder versus that brand of baking powder,” Trevor laughs.
After winning the show and the hearts of the nation, Trevor admits the first thing he did when he got his cake stand trophy home was to get it engraved with the names of all his fellow competitors.
“You don’t have competition if you haven’t got good competitors, and I felt that all the contestants were there because they were following their passion. So, putting the names on the trophy was kind of paying respect back to the competitors.”
Going back to work as a business efficiency coach, Trevor has even been able to use his baking skills to help the companies he works with develop their office culture by judging their office baking competitions.
