The Head High actors found falling in love on screen an easy affair

Miriama's co-star crush I WANT A HUBBY LIKE CRAIG!
Despite having both worked in the industry for more than 20 years, actors Miriama McDowell and Craig Hall had never crossed paths professionally. Fortunately, the pair “immediately clicked” when cast as school rugby coach Vince and his hard-nosed cop wife Renee O’Kane in local award-winning drama Head High.

Now as they share the highs of their on-screen relationship with the Weekly, the special bond between the two is obvious. They high five and cheer “Go us!” when joking about a recent love scene that was possibly deemed too raunchy to air and tease each other a lot.

“It’s really strange at the start of shooting when you haven’t worked with someone before, to create a ‘marriage’ with the physical complexity,” explains Miriama.

“Although we had great chemistry and I really liked him a lot, there was a barrier there that we had to push through. So we had a conversation where we gave each other permission to be affectionate with each other in our roles. Yes, you can touch me or hold me or lean into my body.”

Adds Craig, “Even though there might be competitiveness between our characters, at the heart of it, they really love each other. So it’s up to us to portray that. It was really nice to get a text message recently from [friend and 800 Words actor] Erik Thomson who said ours was one of the best relationships he’d seen onscreen.
