Everyone knows marriage can be hard work – but you don’t necessarily want the entire world to know that yours is.

While most of us will never have to deal with millions of people knowing the state of our relationship, the same can’t be said for David and Victoria Beckham, who have found themselves the subject of even more fascination than usual following David’s very candid interview on Australia’s version of The Project.

In Sydney to attend Prince Harry’s Invictus Games, football legend David (43) admitted that his marriage to the former pop star was not smooth sailing – just months after persistent rumours had buzzed that their 19-year union was in trouble.

“I think marriage is always about hard work,” he said.

“To have been married for the amount of time we have, it’s always hard work.
