FRIDA AND AGNETHAS RIVALRY IS TEARING THE GROUP APART
Mamma Mia! The eagerly awaited ABBA reunion has been postponed. And it’s all because the Swedish group’s female stars are feuding like crazy.
“Agnetha and Frida never really got on all those years ago, and since they went back in the studio it’s reopened a lot of old wounds,” discloses an insider.
“Things have become very difficult between them and they don’t want to be in the same room, let alone sing together.” And that’s presenting a major headache for band founder Benny Andersson. He revealed in a new interview in the UK that plans for two songs to be released before Christmas have been put off.
“Benny is insisting that the new ABBA tracks will now be unveiled early next year, but the way things are going they might never see the light of day.”
Although the songs, Don’t Shut Me Down and I Still Have Faith in You, are finished, Benny (71) and his writing partner Björn Ulvaeus don’t want to release them if all four members of the group aren’t prepared to promote them together.
“Besides, the plan has always been to have a documentary about the reunion out at the same time. But shooting was put on hold weeks ago. Worse still, they were hoping to record a third track, but Agnetha and Frida don’t seem to have any desire to get back into the studio together, no matter how much Benny and Björn (73) plead with them.
