THREE'S COMPANY! - The reason for Gillian's split

It sounds like the kind of complicated love triangle The Crown writer Peter Morgan would come up with for a TV show. But his tangled relationships with his leading lady Gillian Anderson and her longtime friend, heiress-turned filmmaker Jemima Khan, are fact, not fiction.

And in a plot twist that nobody saw coming, Peter has now moved in with new love Jemima just a couple of weeks after splitting from Gillian, his partner of four years.

Gillian, who stars as British PM Margaret Thatcher in the hit Netflix series, is said to be “bemused” by the romance between her ex and her pal.

“She has certainly raised an eyebrow or two at the news,” says a source, adding that Gillian was upset at how quickly Peter and Jemima moved in together, when she and Peter never actually lived together.

In an interview last year, Gillian, 52, revealed that co-habiting with Peter would most likely “be the end of us. It works so well as it is, it feels so special when we do come together. It’s exciting.”

News that they had parted company in December came as a surprise, although it was pointed out that Gillian said very little about Peter, 57, when promoting the latest series of The Crown late last year. The break-up was said to be amicable, with one source saying the relationship seemed to have “run its course”. But the speed with which Peter then turned to Jemima, 46, may have caused some bad blood, reveals the insider.
