It’s a new year, new month, new day, and a whole new decade! Can you believe we have lived in two decades and get to see an entirely new decade? How exhilarating! This, for me, is extremely exciting. I’m one of those people who just absolutely love a new year. I love the weather, the festivities, the holidays, the joy all around. Leading up to a new year I spend a significant amount of time in prayer and solitude. I seek God for direction and a word for my life and the church for the coming year. New Year’s Eve is my favorite time of the year, equivalent to a kid loving Christmas. The anticipation a child has towards opening new gifts and the excitement of receiving something they’ve been looking forward to, is the same enthusiasm I feel toward every new year. This is because as I grew older, my wants moved from the pursuit of tangible gifts of toys, to the hope of the realisation of dreams and destiny. I stopped wanting bags, shoes, and jewellery and started desiring love, joy, peace and the fulfillment of life purpose. Everything I hope for is something that isn’t dependent on money, but dependent on God.
