Give your body a serious reboot with these super-boosters
New research by MoMA reveals that 38% of Brits are missing breakfast for more sleep, which leads to a low-energy day ahead. ‘Oats are filling, nutritious and full of energy to fuel you,’ says psychologist Jo hemmings. We love MoMA Porridge Almond Butter & salted Caramel, £1.30, tesco.
2 Have better sleep
Do you wake up exhausted? ‘To carry out its overnight repairs, your body uses energy in the form of glycogen,’ says Dr Roger Henderson. ‘If this energy supply runs out, it can result in broken sleep, which can leave you lacking in energy the following day.’ Try a before-bed supplement, such as Benenox Overnight Recharge, £12.49, Tesco.
3 Get enough sunlight
‘Just 30 minutes of sunlight a day can help boost energy,’ says nutritionist Julie Lamble. ‘During the winter months this is a challenge, so take a vitamin D supplement instead.’ Try Lifeplan Vitamins D3 1000iu, £6.20 for 90 tablets.
4 Exercise early
‘Do energy forming exercises, such as running or aerobics, in the morning,’ recommends Dr Marilyn Glenville. ‘If your daily exercise routine is exhausting, adjust it, because the aim of exercise is to boost your energy not drain it.’
