Oh, my god, I feel as though my life has gone.’ This was the haunting state of mind that took hold of Coleen Nolan not long after her 51st birthday.
The Loose Women star was struggling through the dark side of the menopause, her three children were grown up and she had just come through the emotional challenge of a divorce. Coleen felt as if her glitzy world of Nolan glamour had started to lose its sparkle.
‘I felt like I was surplus to requirements,’ the star told Woman’s Own. ‘Nature was telling me, “Right you’re done, because you’re in your 50s, you’ve got no husband, your kids don’t really need you that much”. I just went through a really bad phase.’
For Coleen, the turning point came during lockdown when her daughter Ciara, 20, whom she shares with her ex-husband Ray Fensome, inspired her to switch to a vegan diet.
She joked about how she ‘couldn’t get off the sofa’ and was concerned that she’d ‘be on a mobility scooter by 60’.

'THAT'S NOT MY BABY'
Lying in the hospital bed, my husband Michael had tears of happiness in his eyes as he showed me a photo on his phone. 'Here she is,' he said proudly. 'This is our beautiful baby girl.'I stared at the photo and shook my head. 'No, that's not my baby,' I said. 'There must be a mistake.'It was August 2010 and I'd not long before had an emergency caesarean. I'd not had a chance to see Winnie when she arrived as she'd been whisked away for tests because she was nearly two months premature.
