It's hard to believe that this year Bonnie Langford is celebrating her 51st year in show business. The popular actor, singer and dancer first appeared on TV in 1971, at the age of six, on the talent show Opportunity Knocks.
Now she's back on stage, in the musical Anything Goes, playing the part of Evangeline Harcourt, which is on tour until June, then in London until September.
It's a production, Bonnie says, she is 'thrilled to be part of. It's a wonderful show. It is set on an ocean liner that's sailing from New York to London... and is very farcical and great fun. It's all about love, in a sort of small situation. And it has the wonderful music of Cole Porter, which is incredible.' Also, she's pleased to be reunited with actor Simon Callow, whom she previously worked with in pantomime. 'He was Captain Hook and I was Peter Pan!' she says.
Bonnie's excited to be returning to theatres after the pandemic closed the last show she was in, 9 to 5 the Musical. 'We all had to clear the building,' she says.
