Amanda Redman’s only child, Emily, 34, got married in December. Yet she’s already desperate to become grandmother.
‘I can’t wait!’ says Amanda, 4. ‘I’m trying to avoid putting pressure on her, but it’s on the tip of my tongue every time speak to her. But I can’t do that. It will be lovely, though.’
Amanda admits that when Emily – whose father is Hustle actor Robert Glenister, 61, Amanda's ex-husband – becomes a mother herself, it will help to make up for Amanda not being able to have any more children of her own. Amanda suffered nine miscarriages and two ectopic pregnancies in her id to have a baby with her husband Damian Schnabel, 50, a businessman.
‘I’ve loved being a mum and I love babies,’ says Amanda. ‘I’d have had four children if I could, so there is a sadness there.’ Would Emily having a baby help repair that situation for her, somehow? ‘It would, actually. It’s something that I’m longing for. All my friends are grannies now, so I would love a little bubba to look after.
‘But in the meantime, I bought Damian a couple of gorgeous kittens for his 50th birthday. We love them.’
