Fold the tracing paper in half. Trace the patterns onto tracing paper, matching the broken line to the fold. Cut out the patterns and open out flat. Mark the arrow, dots and notches on both halves.CUTTING OUTCut one pair of pears from each fabric. Snip the notches. Cut one 5 x 2.5cm bias strip of brown fabric for the stalk. Press bonding web on the wrong side of one half of the green fabric. Peel off the backing paper. Fold the other half of the fabric over the bonding web and press. Draw around the leaf template and cut out.<div style="page-break-before:always; page-break-after:always">MAKING THE PEARNote: Take a 6mm seam allowance. Join pieces with right sides together and edges level, matching dots and notches. 1 Stitch each striped pear to a spotted pear along one edge. Snip the curves. Press the seams open. Stitch each patterned pear to the other edge of the spotted pear, between the dots. Snip the curves. Press the seams open.2 Fold and pin the stalk lengthwise in half. Stitch the long edge. Use a rouleau turner or safety pin to turn the stalk right side out. Poke in one end and slip stitch the opening closed.<div style="page-break-before:always; page-break-after:always">3 Pin and tack the raw end of the stalk to the narrow end of one set of pears on the right side at the dot.4 Pin and stitch the pears together, leaving a gap between the notches on one edge. Snip the curves. Finger press the seam open. To finger press, open out the seam and run a moistened finger along the seam. Allow to dry before handling.<div style="page-break-before:always; page-break-after:always">5 Turn right side out. Roll scrap paper into a funnel. Poke the narrow end into the gap, tip in wood shavings or sawdust to firmly fill the pear. Slip stitch the gap securely closed.
