This thing WITH TIM

There was no doubt about it. Tim had totally transformed Kate’s life.

Her best friend Maggie went even further. ‘I think he’s saved your life,’ she laughed one evening as she and Kate shared a bottle of wine.

‘I know,’ Kate smiled. ‘Before Tim, I was fixated on getting a man. It was crazy. I couldn’t do anything, go to a party or an evening class, without thinking, “Will I meet Mr Right here?” Car maintenance, furniture repairing, Indian cookery… all of them useless.’

‘Yes,’ said Maggie, remembering the chicken vindaloo Kate had made her.

‘I was pretty lonely, but not anymore,’ Kate admitted. ‘I didn’t realise I just had to let fate take its course. Do you know what the best thing is?’

‘Gazing into his dark brown eyes? Cuddling up on the settee?’

‘They’re good, of course,’ said Kate. ‘But the best thing is having someone to come home to. There’s nothing worse than an empty flat. No one to worry if you’re back late, or even not at all.’
