With his cheeky sense of humour, Warnie bowled over the women in his life

While he often made fun of his reputation as a Romeo, Shane Warne was undoubtedly a hit with the ladies – and well-loved offand on the pitch.

“He was so sweet... I mean, I’m a gay lady but I can see the charm. It wasn’t a bunged-on charm,” Magda Szubanski, 60, says of shooting scenes with Shane when he did a cameo on Aussie comedy Kath & Kim in 2007.

“It was just a thoughtfulness and sweetness and a kind of charisma that you can’t manufacture. It is just who you are as a person – that radiated out of him.”

Dannii Minogue, 50, also described the late star in glowing terms.

“He was such a light and energy in the room. He was always lovely to my whole family. He knew that I didn’t have a clue about cricket, but he liked that,” the singer wrote in her dedication to the sporting legend, revealing her fellow Victorian affectionately referred to her as “Disco”.

“So many great memories of an incredible man and true gentleman,” she added.
