‘I'LL NEVER TAKE THIS RING OFF'

Chuks married the love of his life after 27 years together and just days before she lost her cancer battle

Brave mum-of-one Sarah Obanya thought she had beaten cancer when doctors gave her the all-clear after eight rounds of chemotherapy and a hysterectomy – until her second chance was cruelly snatched away.

“We were both just in shock. I still don’t believe it, I just don’t understand. She was healthy, we thought the cancer had just knocked a few years of her life and maybe she wouldn’t live until 85 but she was supposed to have longer than two weeks,” says her partner Chuks.

Their future was changed forever in an instant. Sarah was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after complaining of a backache, bloating and shortness of breath, which she thought was due to menopause. She was given the all-clear after her harrowing treatment.
