Age Is No Bar For Hair Growth

It is becoming very common of late to see baldness in women. Baldness means only men; this is what I thought and saw in my childhood.

I have seen my granny, my mother, my teachers, Masi, Aunty, Kaki, Attai, etc., all of whom had either thick or thin hair but were never bald.

I never knew when I, too, started getting the baldness.

Once, as always, when I was sitting with my building friends, I might have been 40 or older and decorating for the Annual Day programme. One of my friends touched me and said she, too, has baldness like me. That day it came to my attention!

Nothing changed as who sees the mirror in real terms once married, kids-it is just run, run, run. As you know, it is the same for most of us.

A turning point in my life: one Sunday morning, like Kaikeyi on the floor, I was lying and crying. A call came from one of my good friends, Pawan. I started, as always, my Ramayana missing my husband.

He said one line: "PK, how do you expect others to like or respect you if you are not loving yourself? A few years down the lane, how would you like to see yourself-no hair, swollen face when you will not admire yourself-how do you expect others?"

I said, sure, I will start taking care of myself.
