How to Look For Pet- and People-Safe Hotel Rooms

How can we find safe hotels when we go to cat shows? If you show very much at all, one very important factor of going to a cat show is where you can stay with your cat. Local shows where you can drive back and forth from your house are few and far between.

The show flyer is always a good starting point. Many clubs will have official show hotels listed (or, even better, it is a hotel show). As a show manager, I always try to make that available because it makes it convenient for my exhibitors, and I might get a few free hotelroom nights for my judges. I always visit the hotel and check out the rooms in person to make sure of the quality of the property and the safety of the hotel, including the area where the hotel is located. Not every club can do this, so as exhibitors, you should always do your due diligence and check out the hotel and its location before deciding where to book your hotel room.

A lot of people rely on various online platforms such as Google, Trip Advisor, Hotels.com, and Expedia to search for a suitable place to stay. These platforms can be a good starting point for your search. Additionally, you can also consider hotels that belong to your preferred hotel chain that are pet-friendly and where you have stayed before. Lastly, asking for referrals from friends who have had similar travel experiences can also be very helpful.

Some exhibitors have started using Airbnb for lodging. All of the information in this article applies to them as well.
