BERTRAM ALLEN’S younger brother Harry has experienced a fruitful maiden season, jumping the five-star Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) series, launching his campaign with a second place in the grand prix of Doha back in February.
The 23-year-old Irishman carried his form through to London, plucking the final day’s 1.45m Lugano Diamonds trophy from the hands of Germany’s David Will and Zaccorado Blue.
David and the 11-year-old son of VDL Zirocco Blue had already posted a sizzling five-star win in the previous day’s 1.55m speed class, where his nearest challenger was show hero Harry Charles, this time riding his father’s 10-year-old Chawton.
Sweden’s Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli established the ballpark on Sunday with 11-year-old mare Dyrka Du Carry before, two riders later, David edged ahead.
