Q I have just bought a smallholding with three acres near a village. I'd like to at least make some income from it but I'm getting conflicting advice. I have looked into some ideas and most of them require money to set up. How can I make some money from my home?
A So glad you raised this question and I hope we get some feedback from readers on this one. Much depends on where you live, what buildings you have and what you are naturally keen on and what you might already have as a skill (even if you don't yet realise it!).
Firstly, identify what you like doing. It doesn't matter how much some people make from an enterprise, if you hate it, you won't make anything from it. Your research needs to be on yourself.
In our lives we acquire multiple skills and interests and from those, you'll have a fair idea of what you could and could not do. For example, if you are not sociable then anything that involves selling direct to the public at a market or country fair, is not likely to be your thing unless you have a family member or friend who will come with you and help. Nor should you think about opening up your smallholding!
