Chandana Ramesh asserts that at Empatio Architecture, it is not a singular design language that takes shape - rather, it is a comprehensive concoction of differing contexts, cultural definitions, and specific client needs. The unique space that emerges is thus original in every way.
With an exciting take of commercial spaces that is both lively and fresh, the design of this 10,700 sq ft headquarters for a renowned second gen apparel manufacturing company in Chennai conveys exactly that. Not only does it meet the company’s energy, proving to be a space of inspiration, but it also captures the company’s sustainable values and cultures impeccably. Aesthetically, the office strikes a perfect balance between the brutalist nature of steel and concrete and a naturalist vibe that connects with nature.
PARTITIONS AND PRIVACY
A well-coordinated workflow anchors the design, maintaining necessary boundaries of public and private with a creative play of partitions. The bold, perforated metal archway that adorns the entrance echoes a recurring aesthetic and material motif. It frames a vertical garden wall, emphasising the offices stark connect with nature. The company’s home blue shade reflects in these playful partitions while materialising the office’s prominent theme of arches.
An open and interactive space for the employees suffuses the office with vibrant design energy, while a private zone for the executives and a lobby space for vendor meetings flank it on either side. A spacious feel was prioritised for the workspace, and perforated steel structures offer porous connections that craft cosy setups for casual meets.
