Designed by SHIVANI CHOPRA, this house is influenced by her style of maximalism. One can notice Victorian and European influences in the decor. The blending of Italian, French and Spanish furniture throughout the house. The use of rich colours.
Mostly shades of gold, mustard, beige, brown, and off-white, with a few bright spots to highlight particular areas. Rugs and carpets help some spaces, by bringing the muted fabrics to life. She has used Vintage, European lighting, to enhance the cosy atmosphere in her home.
On the walls and tables, you will find many Icons that represent Christianity. She inherited that from the Irish nuns, who played a significant role in her growing years. Through the home, one can see artefacts that have a narrative to share. They have been collected from all of her travels. Each is accompanied by a feeling. One can see plenty of Family photo frames, Reputable artwork, numerous mirrors, and a focus on warmth.
What was your favourite design element associated with this project?
SHIVANI: My favorite element is the Photo Gallery, that i have created on both sides of the walls, along a long corridor. It has pictures from both sides of My Family. One wall is full of old pictures from my husband's side. The other wall, has old pictures from my side.
