Known for its ICE engines, Cummins Inc. has pumped in significant resources to align with the partial yet aggressive EV transition across the globe. Pursuing such accessible and zero-emission designs, the company has dabbled in multiple offerings since it first showcased the Battery Electric Systems (BES) for the low-floor bus segment of Europe made available to markets like India. Known to have deployed the latest in cell technology, Cummins has cracked the code for high energy density and packaging efficiency, faster charging and longer range. Its solutions are getting better over time and forcing a changeover of old EV components to make room for higher efficiencies.
Averred Srikanth Padmanabhan, President, Engine Business, Cummins Inc., "Realizing a net-zero future will require a range of technologies, and no one understands it better than Cummins." Our Destination Zero strategy considers the significant diversity of applications in our industry. We power some of the most demanding and economically vital applications. There is not a single solution or path to zero emissions considering the variations in duty cycles, operating environments or locations," he emphasised. The company backed this claim with a showcase of solutions like the battery pack BP 965E, electric axle (e-axle) - 14 XE, E-Turbo, Electrolyser, and Hydrogen Fuel Cell HD 120 at Auto Expo 2023. The company also brought in the 2.5 MW PEM Electrolyser stack.
