Limited-run 625bhp B5 GT is Alpina's most powerful car yet

The new BMW Alpina B5 GT, on sale now from €145,500 (£128,410) and available in saloon and Touring estate bodystyles, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine producing 625bhp and 626lb ft of torque.

It surpasses the B8 Gran Coupé, the XB7 SUV and the standard B5 (which it replaces), which all produce 612bhp and 590lb ft, as the firm's most powerful car.

The saloon can dispatch 0-62mph in just 3.4sec and the Touring takes just 0.2sec longer. Power is managed by a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
