Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd. (MLMML) of the Mahindra Group forayed into the Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV), four-wheeler cargo segment with the Mahindra ZEO. Tailored for sustainable last-mile logistics, the Zero Emission Option (ZEO), scores high as a green mobility alternative with zero tailpipe emissions. At Bharat Mandapam, the company launched two variants. According to Suman Mishra, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MLMML, the vehicle has been specially designed in keeping with the changing needs of urban logistics. MLMML has introduced the ZEO at Rs. 7.52 lakh (Ex-showroom) across India. The claim is to help customers save up to rupees seven lakh over seven years compared to a diesel SCV.
Given the choice of venue for the launch, the ZEO was aptly lauded by the Government representatives. Speaking at the launch, Dr Hanif Qureshi, IPS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, emphasised the objective of promoting electrification alongside localisation. This approach aims to foster the growth of the local industry. Sudhendu J. Sinha, Advisor, NITI Aayog, congratulated the MLMML team and highlighted that the localisation percentage should progressively increase. He expressed the vision for India to not only be a major consumer of EVs but also a global manufacturing hub for EVs.
