The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb celebrates its 101st anniversary this year!

Race to the Clouds, as it is known colloquially, has attracted daredevils and adrenaline junkies since the turn of the last century, as the first race was held in 1916, three years before the first traffic light was installed in Detroit. As the open class has no rules regarding anything, really, so long as it passes the safety inspection, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has always managed to inspire some of the maddest creations on four wheels. Motorcycles, though a part of the race since its inception, were banned permanently from the hillclimb after racer Carlin Dunne's tragic death in 2019.
