I love parallel-twin motorcycles for their creamy smooth engines and the way they sound! And many would agree that the Benelli TNT 300 with its 300cc liquid-cooled parallel twin was one of the best sounding motorcycles for its price, until it was discontinued after the advent of the BS6 era in 2020. Well, it is back, not as a Benelli, but in the form of QJMotor SRK 400, with a bigger 400cc engine and a more modern streetfighter look, but at its soul, it performs very much like the TNT 300.
The SRK 400 looks quite striking with its aggressive design. Upfront, the dual LED headlamps and telescopic upside-down forks lend it a mean stance. Its muscular 13.5-litre fuel tank signifies its streetfighter credentials and the exposed frame, offset monoshock and underbelly exhaust are reminiscent of the TNT 300. The rear is minimalistic with a sleek taillamp nicely tucked under the pillion seat. Talking about the pillion seat, it feels like the only disproportionate bit in an overall attractive package. Fit and finish levels on the SRK 400 are a lot better and of higher quality than the SRC 500 you read about in the previous issue, the only minor niggle being the not-so-smooth weld finishes on the exposed frame.
