We can safely say that 2022 has been one for the history books for Mercedes-Benz in India as the German luxury carmaker celebrated its most successful year ever in terms of sales. In addition, this is the right consecutive time the carmaker has topped sales charts in the luxury vehicle segment. Going deeper into this success story, Mercedes-Benz India managed to sell a total of 15,822 models between January 2022 and December 2022. That's a hefty increase of 41 percent compared to the previous year. Of course, part of this could be down to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions easing up even more, but the more probable reason could be the slew of models that were launched in the country. Some notable mentions include the GLB and EQB SUVs being the first time the marque introduced an ICE and electric version of the same vehicle at the same time. The most noteworthy of all is undoubtedly the flagship electric sedan, the EQS 580 4MATIC which is a locally&nbsp; assembled model. The best-seller for the marque continues to be the LWB E-Class, followed by the GLC SUV. The likes of the C-Class, S-Class, GLA, GLE and the GLS also played a part in the carmaker's success in 2022. The carmaker underwent management changes as well with Santosh Iyer being appointed as the first Indian Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, succeeding Martin Schwenk.

STRATEGY 2023&nbsp;
Mercedes-Benz wasted no time in kicking off 2023 with the launch of the Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet, India's first convertible AMG at a price tag of 1.30 crore ex-showroom, as a CBU import.&nbsp;It is powered by a mild-hybrid 3.0-litre straight six turbo-petrol engine that puts out a combined 435PS and 520Nm. The fun is only beginning for 2023 as the carmaker is planning on bringing in multiple models from its global portfolio to India including those that have had no predecessor as of yet.

For 2023, Mercedes-Benz India's motto is 'Desire for the extraordinaire.' To achieve this, the marque is focusing on six strategic pillars in the Indian market which include, thinking and acting like a luxury brand, growing the super luxury segment to expand customer base, focus on profitable growth, lead in electric drive and sustainability, embrace customers with a seamless journey and create future-ready people.
As part of this motto, the carmaker will also take on various customer-centric initiatives, with one of them already in place with the Mercedes Me store which offers 17 connected car services.&nbsp;The online store has also garnered over 2,000 bookings with feature additions such as Direct Business bookings, 360 degree vehicle images, detailed vehicle information and stock availability display. The carmaker aims to roll out a new online trade-in module on its website for an easier car exchange process which includes an AI powered 'i-evaluation app' to streamline this process.

And lastly, the carmaker is concentrating on creating a sustainable ecosystem to minimise its carbon footprint. It aims to become a 100 percent paperless organisation by end of 2023 and reduce water consumption by 19 percent as compared to 2021. Its Chakan facility currently runs on 100 percent green energy and one-third of the carmaker's franchise partners are targeted to operate on green energy by the end of 2023.&nbsp;
