When looking for a tractor for your farm, regardless of the size of the operation, here are some factors to consider: W • Power and performance: Tractors must have reliable and efficient engines, providing the power and performance needed to handle a range of tasks.
• Versatility: Tractors should be versatile, offering a range of attachments and implements to help small farmers work in a variety of settings.
• Ease of use: Tractors should be user-friendly, with intuitive controls and easy-to-use features that make them easy to operate.
• Reliability: Tractors should be reliable, with high-quality components and construction that ensure they can handle the demands of small-scale farming.
In this article, we look at some smaller tractors that may be applicable to smaller operations.
JOHN DEERE
The John Deere 5-Series utility tractors have been designed to operate across smaller operations. They comprise the 5-D Series (29kW to 37kW), which includes the 5039D, 5045D, 5050D models; the 5-E Standard Series (41kW to 67kW), including the 5055E, 5065E, 5075E, 5080E and 5090E models; and the 5-E Narrow Series (57kW to 67kW), including the 5080EN and 5090EN models.
While these tractors have smaller engines than some of their larger counterparts, they are by no means inferior, and are able to complete general farming tasks across grain, livestock, hay and forage and high-value crop production.
The 5-D Series features a three-cylinder 2,9-litre John Deere, with a piston spray benefit, according to John Deere.
